A wonderland of Alice’s making

Last month, Matt sent me a youtube link to a short feature about a pianist who was at Terezin.  Alice Herz-Sommer.  When I saw the name, I ran to the piano and realized that Ullmann’s Fourth Sonata was dedicated to her!  And here she is, with an amazing spirit and clarity of recall!  I must meet her.

Through a friend of a friend, I’ve managed to secure a way to contact Alice.   She’s in London.  So I called her!  Once she realized what I wanted, she invited me to come over right away, that very day!  I explained that I was in New York City, so we settled on January for me to visit with her.  I’m so excited!  I’ll go right after finishing the first round of recording.
