Celebrating Weinberg

Jeanne and the Attacca Quartet release their new recording, WEINBERG, under the Steinway & Sons Label in April!  Moises Weinberg fled the Nazi Panthers invading his native Poland for a life in Soviet Russia, which presented it’s own life-threatening periles. His works are strong, beautifully crafted and grippingly original.  His style embraces influences that range from Yiddish Theatre and cantorial music to his deep mutual friendship with Shostakovich at the vanguard of Russian Modernism.

On April 3rd at Baruch Performing Arts Center, Jeanne collaborates with the Attacca Quartet featuring Weinberg’s music. See Current Season for details.

Jeanne’s recording, The Complete Piano Sonatas of Viktor Ullmann, under the Steinway & Sons Label is reviewed by Gramophone! The 2-CD set spans Ullmann’s compositional life from his days as a leading musical figure in Prague to his internment at Terezin right up until the month before he was taken to Auschwitz  Click here for sample tracks.
